Service // MIDI & External Hardware

Get your synths, controllers and DAW in sync.

A keyboard and MIDI technician with 20 years of studio work, fixing it with you over a remote session.

A synth your DAW can’t see, a controller that fights with another, or timing that feels loose across a room full of hardware — sorted in a remote session.

What it is

MIDI problems rarely come from one broken thing. They come from drivers, ports, channels and clock settings that each look fine on their own but don’t agree with each other. I connect to your computer over AnyDesk while we talk on WhatsApp, Zoom or Google Meet, and you watch everything I do.

I get each device recognised, set up MIDI ports and channels, send clock from one reliable source, and set up your DAW’s external instruments so hardware records and plays back like a plugin. Then I save the setup as a template, so you start from a working studio every time.

A single controller is usually sorted in one session. A full hardware studio can take two or three, depending on how much is connected.

Who it’s for

Producers and composers who work with hardware alongside their DAW. Typical problems I fix:

  • A synth or controller isn’t recognised by the computer or the DAW
  • Two controllers conflict, or keys and knobs control the wrong thing
  • Timing feels loose or drifts when several synths play together
  • Triggering hardware synths and drum machines from the DAW
  • Recording hardware back into the DAW without latency or doubled notes

I work with Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Reaper and Cakewalk, and with hardware from Korg, Roland, Novation, Akai, Native Instruments, iConnectivity and others.

This service covers setup and configuration. A unit stuck after a failed firmware update can sometimes be recovered remotely, but if it needs physical work, or won’t power on, has failing keys or knobs, or is damaged, it needs a repair workshop. In the UK, I recommend Matt at Logarhythm, who handles the hardware repairs featured on this site.
