Service // Computer Migration & Upgrades
Move your studio to a new computer without breaking it.
Projects, plugins, licences and sample libraries moved to a new Mac or PC, set up cleanly and checked before your old machine goes.
What it is
Copying everything across with Migration Assistant, or restoring a backup, feels safest. For a music studio it often isn’t: old plugin versions, leftover drivers and broken file paths come along too, and the new machine inherits the old one’s problems. I set the new computer up cleanly instead, then bring across only what you need.
Over AnyDesk, with a call on WhatsApp, Zoom or Google Meet, we plan the move and gather your licences. I install your DAW and current versions of your plugins, relocate sample libraries, and open your projects on the new machine to check nothing is missing, before the old one is wiped or sold.
Who it’s for
Anyone changing the computer their music depends on. Typical jobs:
- Moving from an Intel Mac to Apple Silicon, or from an old PC to a new one
- Upgrading macOS or Windows without losing plugins or drivers
- Moving iLok, Native Instruments and other licences to the new machine
- Moving sample libraries to an external SSD
- Choosing a new computer that suits your DAW and interface before you buy
I work with Logic Pro, Cubase, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Reaper and Cakewalk, on Mac and Windows.
Prefer to do it yourself? My step-by-step guides cover the same method:
This service moves a working studio to a new machine. If projects on the old machine already open with missing files, we start with DAW Project Rescue. If the old computer has failed physically, it needs a repair workshop. In the UK, I recommend Matt at Logarhythm, who handles the hardware repairs featured on this site.

A typical move takes two to three sessions, depending on how many plugins and libraries you have.
